      a waterfall in the Guiana Highlands of south-eastern Venezuela. It is the highest waterfall in the world, with an uninterrupted descent of 978 m (3,210 ft). The falls were discovered in 1935 by the American aviator and prospector James Angel (c. 1899–1956).
