      (1866–1925), Chinese Kuomintang statesman, provisional president of the Republic of China 1911–12 and president of the Southern Chinese Republic 1923–5. He organized the Kuomintang force and played a vital part in the revolution of 1911 which overthrew the Manchu dynasty. Following opposition, however, he resigned as president to establish a secessionist government at Guangzhou.
