英文island
island的S 為什麼不發音? 因為island這個單字是由中古英文ilond而來 之後跟法文混在一起(忘了字怎麼拼) 才衍生成現在有S 卻S不發音的情況 至於其他類似的情形 也可能某些單字並非源自於英文的關係
